University of Hohenheim

The University of Hohenheim is one of Germany's top-tier universities and unique in its interdisciplinary research profile focused on global challenges in Bioeconomy, Food Security, Ecosystem Research and Health Sciences. About 10.000 students attend a total of 41 study programs in the fields of "General and Applied Natural Sciences“, "Agricultural Sciences" and "Economic and Social Sciences“. The University supports the Humboldt’ ideal of the unity of research and teaching. Studies convey outstanding subject knowledge as well as social competencies and value orientation. Research extents from basic fundamental research to problem-oriented trans-disciplinary approaches. The following departments / centers are involved in the TRUE project:
The Hohenheim Research Center for Global Food Security and Ecosystems (GFE) fosters transdisciplinary
research on topics related to sustainable agricultural production systems within their biophysical and
socioeconomic settings.
The Institute of Crop Science (Agronomy) performs research in crop production, focusing on optimizing cropping systems in conventional and organic farming.
The Coordination of Organic Farming and Consumer Protection handles and coordinates research issues related to organic farming and consumer protection and organizes the teaching of these topics at the University of Hohenheim.
The Institute of Farm Management is part of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim. Research subject is the farm, its placement in the overall economy and natural environment, but also agricultural economic enterprises in upstream and downstream sectors.
